Usage Guidelines
Practical guidance on how our catalogue may be streamed, downloaded, licensed for film and sync, and referenced in editorial contexts.
1. Personal listening.
All subscribers may stream the full catalogue on up to five personal devices. Offline caches are permitted on the Lossless and Studio tiers.
2. Public performance.
Public performance in cafés, shops, gyms and similar venues requires a separate AKM licence, which is not covered by an individual FreeMultimediaSource subscription. We publish a list of reciprocal licensing partners on request.
3. Sync and film use.
- Short-form social use (under 60 seconds) — available under our Creator programme, €49 per clip.
- Short film (under 20 minutes, festival circuit) — licence fee from €180 per track.
- Feature film, series, advertising — negotiated bespoke, routed through our Vienna clearance desk.
4. Editorial and press.
Writers may quote up to 30 seconds of a track in a review or editorial context under fair-dealing provisions, provided attribution is given to the artist and FreeMultimediaSource. Press embeds are available on request.
5. Research, teaching & archival use.
We grant complimentary research access to accredited Austrian and EU universities. Archival partners (e.g. regional museums) are invited to contact our preservation team directly.
6. Prohibited uses.
- Training of generative models on catalogue audio is strictly prohibited.
- Redistribution of downloaded audio outside the licensed purpose is prohibited.
- Use in advertising without prior written clearance is prohibited.
7. Reporting a violation.
Rightsholders may report suspected unauthorised use to info@freemultimediasource.com. We respond within five working days.
8. Attribution format.
Where attribution is required, please use: Track title — Artist name · Licensed via FreeMultimediaSource, Vienna.
